Project: Newport Victorian Restoration
May 21, 2009
Dear Jeremy,
My profession revolves around the ability to plan and execute transactions with minimal, if any, miscues along the way. Timely and flawless execution are required. This carries over into my personal life somewhat to the chagrin of family, friends and colleagues but it has done me relatively well over the years.
When Carol and I bought the house in 2000 we knew that this is where we wanted to retire, the only question being when and who would do the work. In 2007 we decided to begin the remodeling process and talked with several contractors eventually selecting you. We made this decision based on work that we had seen on other projects, talking with people and with you. In the end I would have to say that the project turned out exceptionally well. There are a number of reasons for this outcome. Among them are –
- Planning – the front end planning in terms of design and contract terms facilitated the project completion with minimal issues, if any.
- Communication – this is one of the principal keys to success in almost everything that we do in life. On this project open and timely discussion of all questions, again minimized potential issues during the entire project.
- Follow through on issues that we discussed – all were done on a timely basis.
- Your attention to detail and the blending of architectural integrity with our desire for an open concept – the detail and finishing touches that many people would not notice or appreciate were very much appreciated by us and many who have visited us since completion of the project. In particular, the detail in following the original stair concept for the posts and railing make the changes seen so natural that one would not know that stairs had not been there previously. Also, the finishing touches on the railing on top of the wainscoting.
- Ability to work together with our architect/designer in developing the overall plan and, in particular, the kitchen– the collaborative approach worked very well from my perspective. The kitchen (Carol’s favorite) from the design to the quality of the cabinetry has received rave reviews from all who have seen it.
- Work ethic and policing of the work area daily –consideration of neighbors and attention to policing the work area were noticed and appreciated by our neighbors as well as Carol and myself.
- Ease to work with – nothing was a problem; it just got done. The thoughtful and professional approach to any concept presented and then finding a way to make it happen made the process extremely easy for us.
I would be pleased to talk with anyone that is interested in using you and would gladly recommend you.
Many thanks for the great job.
